Older chimneys are different from contemporary chimneys. They are made with different types of mortar and are designed very differently internally. They were built to actually provide heat, and they are beautiful focal points on Memphis' grand old homes. We have spent much of our time during the last 35 years saving these old chimneys, and not only getting them back into service, but also preserving their original cosmetic designs. We make sure that these chimneys are treated with the respect they deserve as a historical part of our city.

The chimney may only need some tuckpointing above the roof or in the firebox, or the chimney may need a complete renovation, including a re-lining of the flue, a new firebox, damper, etc. We can remove internal collapses and falling withes. We can video scan the chimney's interior to actually see what repairs are needed. We can also work on the old ceramic tile and slate roofs without damaging them.
